On Being a Man

It takes a man to be a man It takes a man to be a man

Being a man. What does that really mean?

For me, it is being completely congruent with yourself. Being confident, powerful, strong and fun to be around.

A real man doesn’t hide anything from anyone. He doesn’t have a “dark side”.

He understands social dynamics, and he just have this energy around him that makes people like him.

He is naturally the center of attention in most situations.

Under stress, or in an emergency, he becomes the natural leader.

He takes responsibility. Not only for himself, but also for others.

Being like a prince

He is kind of like a prince. A prince from a fairy tale.

Being a prince is a very powerful image you can use; I first heard it associated with masculinity over at Albert’s blog.

“A prince is confident, passionate, in control, assertive, strong, brave, loyal, and has a code of honour. He takes risks, and he doesn’t need the approval of others. He has been tempered by fire. He has faced and conquered his inner demons. And yet he is kind, gentle, and compassionate. He likes himself and is comfortable with who he is.”
A man’s manual to being a manly man – Introduction: Being a prince

A prince is kind and helpful to his people, gentle and fierce to his lover, loving and caring to his family and a man of men.

A real prince also keeps his friends close, but his enemies closer.

What’s your opinion

I am actually writing this sitting in a taxi on my way to the airport. I am having an extended weekend to Germany.

So I just wanted to share a few thoughts on being a man with you guys today.

And I am also really curious about your opinion –

What does it mean to “be a man” to you?

If I was to break it down into adjectives:
    a) Responsibility
    b) Honor
    c) Integrity
    d) Strength
    e)Nonchalance
    f)Control
    g) Paradoxical (even though they have integrity)
    h) Ever expanding and growing
    i) Ever competing (and winning)

    Hello Alex,

I would be surprised if there is a person that doesn’t have this image (more a less), an idea spread by films and television; a mix between: an explorer, a genius, a famous person, a confident person. Don’t we dream (sometimes) with that?

Being a man comes down to having the courage to over come fears. The list that Mwangi broke down all comes from a core of having the courage to push past your fears. All of them will stem from this one thing.

Having that courage is simply a choice

Another note, no amount of reconstructing limiting beliefs will get you to the point where you have women handled. It wil def HELP but it wont get you fully there and isn’t truly neccisary. You could spend hours reprograming your mind to approach a girl or just say f*ck it and just do it. After you do push past that fear, everything else just falls into place

To me being a man means:

Knowing the purpose of my life (mine is excellence, being the best and developing until I die)

    Making decisions always

    Radiating love to everybody

    Being directed

    Being mysterious and adventurous

    Living with passion

    Being unlimited

Always knowing what I want (even when I am just walking down the street)

Being dominant (or as I like to put it: being totally free of other’s opinion, approval, expectations and validation, these are great things but they are coming from inside and not from others)

    Changing women’s mood to love

    Being lighthearted
