Great comment Colin, thank you!

Keeping in touch with the world is a great idea in my opinion; I subscribe to Time, but maybe I should check out The Economist the next time I'm at the airport...

I also like film noir, I remember that "Touch of Evil" was one of the first movies I saw from that genre. I guess "Sin City" also falls under the category neo noir? Nonetheless, that's a great movie too.

Take care!

Hey Alex,

Hoping I'm not too late in the week with this but, I love your choices on books and TV shows, especially Hemingway. True male works of art.
Two things, I would recommend that make me a more well rounded person are,

The Economist - A weekly news and international affairs magazine, it keeps you up to date with the world and educates you. It maybe a bit much for some. They often assume your knowledge on complexe issues, but it's worth the read, if only just to be able to keep a conversacion going about the news of the time. If you can get ahold of the read aloud pod cast, it's perfect for listening when jogging.

Film noir - Action, love and suspense, this classic and cool film style, is just my favorite. I find nothing more engaging then a great crime drama with this 40's feel. Noir with it's tortured man and it's sexy women always has deep and moral ambiguities in it's plots. The men in these movies have the kind of cool I aspire for.
Some of the greats are:
Sunset Blvd.
The Third Man
Touch of Evil
For those who don't like to watch the older films, there is always Neo-noir:
Blade Runner
Heat
Memento
even, The Dark Knight

These are just the things I like and make me feel more well rounded. Discussion on classic film and foreign policy isn't for everyone, and it's important to remember that.

Hello Peter,

thanks for taking the time to write such a helpful comment!

That adventure club looks pretty interesting, I'll definitely check that out. And yes, 'The Game' is also a very good book in many ways - at least it will make you realize how f'ed up some of the self proclaimed "pick up artists" are!

Once again thanks for your comment, and I hope I'll see you more around here!

Take care,
Alex

Yeah, really great post Alex, I've been reading your stuff for a couple months, and it's all really good stuff! This is my first reply to anything you've posted.

I could easily recommend the book by Eckhart Tolle: 'Power of Now' and 'A New Earth' for those interested in spiritual enlightenment...

LOVE Entourage, seen every episode at least twice! It's a cool, funny, awesome show...probably the best TV show ever!

Re: fashion/style, I think a link to www.kinowear.com that I found on your site was MOST helpful...there are tips for folks to avoid making crucial male fashion mistakes and also how to dress more stylishly, which gives you a better chance to look good, feel more confident, and generally FEEL GOOD! And this gives you a better chance to meet hot women! I know that when I'm dressed well, i feel awesome and SUPER-confident and I always meet hot chicks on these days...

'The Game' by Neil Strauss is also a must-read...it's hilarious, and also very cool...I'm still reading it and laughing every five minutes...it is very cool and informative...

Another kinda cool website, is www.tut.com which is a self-proclaimed 'Life Adventurer's Club'...for those seeking enlightenment and so on...you can also sign up for a daily email called: 'Notes from The Universe,' which is always a useful, funny, helpful, supportive piece of advice or anecdote to help you FEEL GOOD and remember that all of life is defined by the choices we each make for our own happiness...our happiness is our responsibility, basically!

Sorry if this is a bit heavy, but it's my first ever post on here!

Keep up the good writing Alex, your site is probably one of the best on the web...

Hey Brent!

Thanks for your comment- I like what you're saying here. "Change for your own sake"...

And yes, looking your best does not only attract women, it also makes you feel good; and ultimately, that's the goal :-)

Take care!

Marvellous post.
Its important to get the message across here that guys shouldn't look at your articles to change to get girls but to change to become the better man he was meant to be.
I love your show choices, I get confused with Lost sometimes but i understand what you mean by amazing plots with those interesting characters.
But To get an example of alpha males is Entourage. All the main characters show many ways there are great men. How they attract the ladies, how they depend on each other and can do things by themselves in a way. Very smart choice.
I start reading on these post they seem interesting.
Also, I'm paying attention to fashion and style right now to becoming a better man. First impressions are everything. I think we can all have great personalities that will attract women sometimes but the first thing people see is the outside of you. And if you are groomed and dressed well, more women will cling to you. So, if you know a thing or two about that stuff, write more post about that. Its what I learned, AND IT HELPED, maybe it will help other guys.
