Tanning
« on: February 12, 2009, 06:11:35 PM »
Alright, so along with exercising, good personal hygiene, and basic grooming routines to keep yourself looking healthy and attractive, do you guys go tanning? I used to play soccer, and spending two or three hours out in the sun multiple times every week kept my skin a nice color. But since I've quit (two years ago) I've become as pale as a ghost, and I would like to change that.

How important do you guys think tanning is? Do you feel better, more confident, when you have a healthy, sexy dark color to you? And how much do you think (or know) women notice? Is it even important to them if you are pale? And above all, if you tan, or have any experience with it, what will get me the best results? Tanning oil, swimming, just laying out in the sun? Thanks.  :)

I only get a tan when I go away. I know some guys do like to get tans from other sources but I just think there's something undeniably effeminate about that. So personally I would never go for fake tans or sunbeds.

Haha yeah that fake stuff isn't for me, but I know some guys who do it ... I just don't like being white. x_x I'm thinking about adding swimming into my workout regime this summer. That should help me get a nice tan.

Sounds like a good plan, I do the same, mainly because I find sunbathing one of the single most boring things it is possible to do. Only downside is that unless you like backstroke then you'll end up with a back darker than the front!

Pairing exercise with sun is a great idea, so if you live a place where there's sun out in the daytime, go for a run, walk, swim, bikeride or whatever you like.

It sounds like it's possible for you, Scott, since you talked about football and how you got a healhty looking color in the years that you played.

So just get out; it will help you look and feel better in many ways.

Consider trying indoor tanning in winter. I thought it wasn't a very alpha male thing to do, but I decided to do it because I missed the feeling of lying on my roof on a hot summer day. That and a friend said that I would feel great afterwards. And I did, I felt warm all over irregardless of the cold winter air outside. There's nothing wrong with doing it once or twice, really brightens your mood on those cloudy winter days. Give it a shot, the benefits are more psychological than anything.

...Oh best experience with tanning is the roof thing like I mentioned: thirty minutes each side every once in a while on hot days. I felt great, had a nice colour and was confident overall; it makes you look better and if you work out, even more so. For that I am willing to endure the possibility of a joke or two at my expense. :P Then again, I can almost guarantee the women will not complain :)

Alright so the weather was finally nice enough over the weekend to sit outside and try to get a nice color... so I did just that. I spent about an two hours over the two days outside. My mistake? Not wearing any sunscreen. I'm not very sunburnt, but it's still rather uncomfortable and I'm pretty itchy. I can tell I have started to get darker though. Just a tip for anyone else trying to get a tan... wear some light sunscreen, 15-20 SPF would be fine. It will allow you to tan without getting burned.
